The Ministry of Health has decided to use 50 Ayurveda Hospitals islandwide as intermediary COVID-19 treatment centres.
The decision was reached during a special discussion held yesterday (23), under the patronage of Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi.
Authorities say that this decision will make another 3,500 beds available for COVID-19 patients.
The Health Ministry said the medical staff of the relevant Ayurveda Hospitals will be provided with stringent training to treat COVID-19 patients while it was also decided to vaccinate staff promptly.
