PC approves name nominated by President

Acting Solicitor General Sanjay Rajaratnam, PC will be the country’s new Attorney General (AG).

He will succeed Dappula de Livera, PC who retires on 24 May.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa, Minister of Fisheries Douglas Devananda and MP Kabir Hashim attended yesterday’s PC meeting.

The Council also agreed to the recommendation to reappoint Sanjeeva Jayawardena, PC as a member of the Monetary Board of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

The Council also approved H. Jayantha Shantha Kumara Wickremarathne as a member of the Office on Missing Persons (OMP) and Major General (Retd.) W.P.P. Fernando as a Member of the Office for Reparations, Parliament Secretary General Dhammika Dasanayake said.
