Expert committee appointed to expedite intl.drugs, treatment for COVID repression

Health Ministry Pavithra Wanniarachchi has appointed a Medical expert Committee to look into produce drugs and treatment internationally to control COVD virus.

The Committee, which comprises of Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama, Dr. Hasitha Tissera and Dr. Prasanna Gunasena has been instructed to investigate and submit a report soon, whether such products are being manufactured in accordance with international drug regulatory procedures anywhere in the world.

The Health Minister emphasized that the Ministry of Health would soon order medicines, new therapies and vaccines to be manufactured to control COVID disease as per the recommendations given by this committee.

“The Ministry looks forward to hearing from this committee as soon as possible on matters such as a clinically manufactured inhaler in Canada, which is currently of clinical standard in Great Britain, as well as a drug developed in India to prevent the reproduction of the COVID-19 virus, and a drug developed in Australia for this purpose,” Minister Wanniarachchi added.
