Vehicles heading to Colombo along the Southern Expressway from Mattala will have to exit from the Kahathuduwa Interchange from today.
Acting Director of the Operation Maintenance and Management Division of the Road Development Authority Nihal Lodwick said the decision has been taken after several employees deployed at the Kottawa, Athurugiriya, Kothalawala and Kaduwela exit points had tested positive for COVID-19.
Accordingly, those heading towards Katunayake along the Southern Expressway will be required to exit from the Kahathuduwa Interchange by paying the necessary highway toll.
The Expressway Operation Division said motorists who intend on heading towards Katunayake can re-enter through the Kahathuduwa Interchange and continue their journey.
Motorists will be required to pay the highway toll only at exit points that are open due to the development.
