A fresh gazette notification was issued yesterday, proscribing three Islamist organisations implicated in the Easter Sunday bombings.
The banned groups are the National Thowheeed Jama’ath (NTJ), the Jama’athe Milla’athe Ibrahim (JMI) and the Willayath As Seylani.
The order was issued by President Maithripala Sirisena by virtue of the powers vested in him regulation 75 (1) of the Emergency (Miscellaneous Provisions and Powers) Regulations No. 1 of 2019 under Section 5 of the Public Security Ordinance (Chapter 40).
