At least 315 inmates at the Welikada prison, who were subjected to PCR tests, have tested negative for COVID-19, Army Commander Shavendra Silva said.
However, he said reports of the PCR tests performed on inmates who were sent to the Kandakadu Quarantine Centre were yet to be received.
Some of the inmates, who were subjected to PCR tests yesterday, also tested negative for the virus.
The inmates were subjected to PCR tests after one inmate transferred from Kandakadu Quarantine Centre was tested positive for COVID-19.
