Former SLFP heavyweight Kumara Welgama says the current SLFP MPs are using the SLFP as a shield to enjoy benefits and privileges from the government.
"They(SLFP MPs) are not ready to resign from the government, instead, they are obtaining various benefits and privileges from the government," said Welgama.
"SLFP members are gradually losing the confidence in the party leadership,"
"People are fed up with this government and also the public have lost confidence in the party politics,"
"Therefore, in order to build a broad alliance against this government, the SLFP MPs must resign from the government," said Welgama, during a meeting with political parties and civil society organisations on Monday.
