Lawyers representing former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen today (15) filed a writ petition at the Court of Appeal seeking an order to prevent his arrest after several Criminal Investigations Department (CID) teams have been directed to secure his arrest.
The Fort Magistrate yesterday imposed a travel ban on the former Minister on a request made by the CID.
A police constable assigned to the former minister arrested for aiding the MP to evade arrest.
Bathiudeen is accused of transporting Internally displaced persons in 222 Ceylon Transport Board buses from Puttalam to Mannar to cast their votes during the 2019 Presidential election.
