Vidura says he opposes 20A

State Minister of National Heritage and rural arts - Vidura Wickremenayake has said that he is against the proposed 20th Amendment to the constitution.

Speaking to the 'Anidda' newspaper, he has stated that his stance is due to the fact that he agrees with views of those who oppose the proposed 20th Amendment.

Noting that 39 petitions have been filed challenging the 20th Amendment, the state minister said after the Supreme Court verdict, the amendment should be debated on, at parliament. He had said that he would express his views then.

Thush's requestRecently, in an open letter to her brother - Vidura Wickremenayake, Dr. Thush Wickremenayake had urged her brother to oppose the 20th Amendment and this was widely circulated online.
