Minister of Power Dullas Alahapperuma says he will resign from his post if the committee probing Monday’s power outage determines that the Ministry of Power was responsible for the island wide blackout last week.
Speaking at a function in Matara, the Minister said the committee report will be submitted tomorrow evening.
He said that it was only 96 hours since he had assumed duties, when the outage occurred.
"It was only 96 hours since I assumed duties as minister of power... I was still learning the ropes when the power went. Immediately in the afternoon I called to appoint a committee and I trust we will receive the report by Monday afternoon. If the report determines that the ministry is responsible for the power outage, Dullas Alahapperuwa will not be the Minister of power by Tuesday evening, " he said.
