The book titled ‘Mangala Samaraweera’ based on his three decade political career is scheduled to be released at a ceremony at the Matara Ruhunu University Rabindranath Tagore Auditorium at 3.00 pm on July 07th.
This book has been inscribed by renowned writer Nihal Jagathchandra based on the interesting points in Mangala’s life.
The oration at this function would be by renowned political analyst and journalist Victor Ivan on the topic ’30 year political history in Sri Lanka’.
Sajith’s hidden agenda
The Leader had reported that the next Presidential hopeful of the UNP, Sajith Premadasa is scheduled to attend this function. In addition, Muslim and Tamil political leaders have also been invited to attend this event.
This event had been organised for April 21st on Mangala Samaraweera’s birthday, but due to the terror attacks, the even had to be postponed.
Mangala’s winning candidate
However, at an even held in Matara on April 20th titled, ’Three decade political story of Matara’ Samnaraweera had expressed his views regarding the selection of the presidential candidate from the UNP.
Sajith slipped his tongue a month ago
A month ago the ‘Anidda’ newspaper reported that Sajith would reveal his presidential candidacy plans during the ‘Sasunata Aruna’ programme scheduled to be held at the inauguration of the Cheitya at the Sri Swarna Jayanthi Viharaya in Anuradhapura.
However, he had made no such reference at this ceremony.
