Env. Minister flies to Korea to attend Asia-Pacific Env. Ministerial meeting

The Environment Minister and the Ministry Secretary left for South Korea yesterday at the invitation of the Government of the Republic of South Korea.

The Ministry said the fourth Asia Pacific Environment Ministerial and Environmental Institutions Meeting of the United Nations Environment Programme will be held in Suwon City, South Korea, on October 6 and 7.

The Minister and the Secretary will also participate in a discussion on International Cooperation for the Control and Development of Global Carbon Emissions as well as several foreign aid projects in the Republic of Korea on October 5.

Ministers from 47 countries will participate in the Environment Ministers' Conference. The agenda of our country is Environmental Action for Sustainable Development in the Asia-Pacific Region.

Minister Amaraweera scheduled to meet with former UN Secretary General Ban Ki - moon and hold bilateral talks with the Global Green Growth Institute - GGGI, in South Korea. (Daily Mirror)
