The 19th Amendment to the Constitution has violated the fundamental rights of the people, SLPP Leader and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said yesterday.

සියලූම පාසල් සිසු සිසුවියන් සඳහා පාසල් කාලයටම බලපාන ශිෂ්‍ය අනන්‍යතා අංකයක් ලබාදීමට කටයුතු කරගෙන යන බව අධ්‍යාපන ඇමැති ඩලස් අලහප්පෙරුම මහතා පැවසීය.

The National Elections Commission has so far received a total of 5,601 complaints regarding election law violations and violent activities, the Commission said.

In his Hajj Message, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said the Government has provided all necessary facilities to the Muslim community to engage in their religious observances.

Renewing his pledges to form a strong Government to address the adverse economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday reiterated a two-thirds majority would be needed to fully implement President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s policy statement.

The Government will resume the repatriation of stranded Sri Lankans overseas today and tomorrow whilst a more regular and continuous process will be launched from 8 August.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday assured that all the corruption, malpractices and irregularities in the Government will be eliminated and an efficient public service in the country will be established.
