The head of the Government Printers Gangani Liyanage said that all ballot papers for the presidential election could be printed and completed by the end of the month.
The Election Commission had given the list of the 35 presidential candidates in alphabetical order to the Government Printers last Wednesday.
Accordingly, she said that around 17 million ballot papers would be printed under tight police security.
This election’s ballot paper is the longest ever printed in the history of Sri Lankan elections.
The official ballot paper is 26 inches in length and the longest ever printed for a presidential election.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the Election Commission has taken a decision to purchase the ballot boxes from local suppliers for the presidential election.
