The extension of Southern Expressway to Hambantota and Mattala is scheduled to be vested with public within next 2 weeks.
As planned by Road Development Authority construction of the Southern Expressway from Kottawa to Mattala is nearing completion and a new expressway (E6) from Andarawewa to Hambantota with an interchange has also been constructed.
The construction of the fourth phase of the Southern Expressway has been completed at a cost of Rs 52 billion.
Accordingly, the 22 kilometer stretch of the Southern Highway from Wetiya to Mattala and the 16.5 kilometer stretch from Andarawewa to Hambantota has been constructed.
