Residents of the Wattala area are currently protesting outside the Leprosy Hospital in Hendala for the third consecutive day.
The protest was initiated over the transform the hospital to a quarantine facility for those arriving at Sri Lanka from from foreign countries where the coronavirus has spread.
According to police, there is a heavy traffic congestion in Elakanda, Wattala due to the protest.
Meanwhile, attending the protest yesterday, former state minister - Nimal Lanza had said that the Health Minister had assured him they will reconsider the decision during a meeting that will be held today.
He was quoted by newswire.lk as to saying, “I will not allow this to happen in this place, This is a highly populated area. They should have asked us about this before taking a decision.”
