A group of businessmen who had betted their properties and money on Gotabhaya Rajapaksa’s win, is said to have won over Rs. 5 billion.
These bets were placed in several areas of the country while businessmen from Galle, Matara, Kurunegala, Colombo, Kalutara and several other areas had participated in this gamble. They had bet cars, gems, jewellery, properties and several other businesses and most of these bets are said to have been over Rs. 50 million.
In addition to money, these businessmen had bet their luxury vehicles, houses, businesses and bus permits.
