The Insurance Workers Union has submitted a written objection over the appointment of P.B. Jayasundara as the Secretary to the President.
The letter is said to have been submitted to President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa under the title, “Get rid of the corrupt. Fulfil the pledge to the nation!’
This letter is reported to have been sent on November 19thand as the first matter raised in this letter, it has been pointed out that Jayasundara had been found guilty in the case over the acquiring of Water’s Edge lands in Battaramulla and had been ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 500,000.
The letter also indicates that it had been stated that Jayasundara is not fit to hold any government position.
The Insurance Workers Union had earlier filed a case against the UNP Government over the sale of the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation to Harry Jayawardena in 2007.
In their letter to the President, the Insurance Workers Union states that all details pertaining to this case could be obtained from Presidents Counsel Wijayadasa Rajapaksha.
