Showers or thundershowers are expected to occur over most parts of the island, the Department of Meteorology said today (23).
Issuing a warning this morning, the Met Department noted that prevailing showery conditions across the island are expected to intensify in the coming days.
Very heavy falls above 150mm are likely in parts of the Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Western provinces, while heavy falls above 75mm are likely in the North-western, Northern, Uva and Eastern provinces.
Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) cautioned the residents living along the Gin and Nilwala rivers to be vigilant following minor flooding.
