The PHIs are once-again urging the government to lockdown the country at least for a few days in order to contain the spreading of the COVID-19, as the health system is not in a position to cope up with the rising number of patients.
Upul Rohana, president of PHI Association said in view of the rising number of patients, it needs more time manage the patients and find their close contacts to send them for quarantine.
To do those tasks, the country needs to be closed down for a few days, Rohana said, adding that when the country is open, people don't restrict their movements and as a result, the virus is rapidly spreading,
Rohana made these comments to Mawbima newspaper.
He said more than 1000 patients per day poses a great risk and the country's health system would not be able to cope up with such a growing number of patients.
Rohana said even the PHIs are now facing the danger of being infected due to the sudden spike reported from many parts of the country.
Several times, PHIs have urged the government to lock down the country.
