Caroline Jurie calls to regulate beauty pageants in SL

Former beauty queen Caroline Jurie has backed moves to regulate beauty pageants in Sri Lanka.

In a letter addressed to the Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Jurie said the event had led to the discussion on regulating pageants in Sri Lanka.

“We have a lot of talent in our midst, and we have potential winners who can grace the world pageant stage and bring honour and respect to our motherland,” she said.

“I am sure you will agree, that investing one crown to save a thousand more, is the noble contribution that Sri Lanka can make, to create a fair global stage for every woman. Let's become one of the first countries to regulate the industry,” she said.

Following the incident at the Mrs. Sri Lanka for Mrs. World 2021 pageant, the Minister of Women and Child Development highlighted the need to regulate events using the name ‘Sri Lanka’.
