There have been 30,783 school dropouts from Grade 1 -11, during the year 2019, the Department of Census and Statistics reveals.
In 2019, 333,074 children were admitted to Grade 01. Out of this figure, 160,000 have not reached Grade 02.
Also 273 children have dropped out from Grade 02.
138 and 2,411 students in Grade 04 and Grade 05 respectfully, have dropped out.
However, in the Divisions of Dehiwala, Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte and Maharagama, which fall among the 13 divisional secretariats in Colombo, there are no dropouts.
