Deshaya reports that the Muslim leaders of the Eastern Province have begun to establish a separate Muslim political alliance as an alternative to the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC).
Former Eastern Province Ministers M L A Athaullah, M L A M Hizbullah and Hassan Ali Basir Segudaoud are reportedly backing the said alliance as the party leaders and two Eastern Province MPs of Rishad Bathiudeen's party and an MP from SLMC is to join the new political alliance.
