Attorney-at-law Nagananda Kodituwakku ,a public interest activist who was getting ready to run in the presidential race has been evicted from contesting the election via conspiracy , Mr Kodituwakku himself claimed.
He bases himself on the tenets of Buddhist philosophy and he has gained public attention for his stance against corruption and injustice.
Nagananda Kodituwakku had publicly campaigned to contest the election and collected money for his campaign.
He has made the optimum use of social media for his campaigns. This has resulted in making him an accepted and popular character among those who are connected to social media.
He admitted that a sum of around Rs.11 million had been collected from well-wishers and donors both hear and overseas for his election campaign, and he has spent all the money for election propaganda activities including advertising.
Mr Kodituwakku noted that he had been taken on a ride by the political party which had invited and worked for him to contest the Presidential election.
.However he had not made the deposit to contest the election by the deadline.
Kodituwakku noted that office bearers of the Okkoma Wesiyo Okkoma Rajawaru political party had given nominations to former Army Commander Mahesh Senananyake instead of himself.
He disclosed that he had been preparing to contest the election since 2017 and had also given up his British citizenship.
However, he says he was not given the opportunity to contest by the political party at the last minute.
