The decisive report by the committee appointed to select the UNP presidential candidate will be handed over to Party Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe next Monday, said Minister Ranjith Maddumabandara, a member of the committee.
The members of this special committee are Kabir Hashim, Ranjith Maddumabandara, Rajitha Senaratne and Dinesh Weerakkody.
The committee is said to have commenced a special study in order to choose the best candidate from the party.
Maddumabandara said that the committee would study the latest reports on the UNP candidacy and look into the views of the parties in the United National Front, prior to compiling their final report.
