I wish to responsibly state that there is no discussion within the government to hold Provincial Council elections, said Minister of Energy - Udaya Gammanpila.
He stated this while replying to journalists during today's (04) cabinet briefing.
Noting that the sole reason for such speculations is the series of concessions introduced yesterday, the minister said the only reason behind introducing the relief package is to bring some relief to those who were affected by the rising inflation.
The minister also clarified that Sri Lanka is not being influenced by any country to hold PC polls.
"No country has influenced us in this and neither do we have a culture of being influenced thus," he added.
