Finance Minister in India during budget debate; Speaker requests President to come to parliament
Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa has left the country for a state visit to India.
However, it is reported that Basil Rajapaksa who presented his inaugural budget, is being criticized within the party, for going abroad during the budget debate.
Today (01) is the 8th of 16 days allotted for the Committee Stage Debate on the Budget.
Speaker requests President to be present in Parliament
Meanwhile, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said in Parliament yesterday (30) that President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa should be asked to attend parliamentary sittings every day.
The Speaker said that all ministers are present in Parliament only on the days when the President is present.
