A group of backbench MPs have yet again requested Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena to issue duty free vehicle permits to MPs, Parliamentary sources say.
In response, tha Speaker has reportedly pointed out that they will have to wait for a few more years for this in the wake of the current economic situation.
The matter was also taken up by several MPs in parliament recently.
According to government sources, a group of MPs have also expressed their grievances in this regard to the Prime Minister and other government bigwigs.
