Champika's political fate to be decided next Monday!

The political fate of MP Patali Champika Ranawaka is to be decided next Monday (01), reports say.

He has been invited to a special meeting attended by the leaders of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and it is said that the new political movement titled ‘43rd Brigade’ is to be taken up for discussion.

'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns from party internal sources that 43 SJB seniors are planning to call for the suspension of the 43rd Brigade.

It is said that the party seniors are also in agreement to initiate disciplinary action if MP Ranawaka fails to comply, to protect discipline in the party.

Ranil - Champika - Mangala - Anura gang up again?

Meanwhile, UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Tamil National Alliance leader - R. Sampanthan, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress leader - Rauff Hakeem and former finance minister Mangala Samaraweera are planning to form a broad political front again, reports say.

It is said they have been spurred to action after the Cabinet of ministers had decided to implement recommendations of the PCoI appointed to probe into political revenge that took place during 2015- 2019.

According to media reports, the commission is to penalise politicians such as Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Mangala Samaraweera, Patali Champika Ranawaka, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Rauff Hakeem, R. Sampanthan and Sarath Fonseka as well as lawyers like Jayampathy Wickramaratne, MA Sumanthiran and J.C. Weliamuna. Reports further add that the former officials such as former Secretary to the Prime Minister - Saman Ekanayake, Deputy Solicitor General Thusith Mudalige, former Director of the CID - Shani Abeysekera and Ananda Wijepala, are to be penalised as well.

The 'Anidda' newspaper reports that it is interesting to note that Wijedasa Rajapaksa has testified that these persons, citing that they had violated the oath of office and acted in violation of its provisions.
