National action plan for UNP revival

A national action plan to revive the United National Party (UNP) which faced a humiliating defeat at the last Presidential and Parliamentary elections would be declared in January next year, party’s Deputy Leader Ruwan Wijewardene has informed the district based party activists.

He has told them that they would be able to convey their views and proposals for the national action plan during the meetings that would be held with them next month.

Responding to a suggestion for him to accept the solitary national list slot allocated to the UNP following the

August 5 Parliamentary election,mr. Wijewardene had stated that party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe’s name had already been proposed to that parliamentary seat. He had further stated that there were other party seniors who are eligible for the seat,in the event the leader refuses to accept it.
