US Acting Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Alice Wells, who is in Sri Lanka while on a visit to the region, will meet Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Tilak Marapana today, the Government Information Department said.

The Millennium Challenge Corporation’s (MCC), US $480 million grant to Sri Lanka, is an opportunity that would help radically transform the public transport system in the country, said Nishan de Mel, Executive Director - Verite Research. As per the MCC Sri Lanka Compact, out of a US$ 480 million grant, US$ 350 million would be used to develop transport logistics infrastructure.
