A special delegation of the European Union called on Governor of Northern Province Dr. Suren Raghavan at the Governor’s Secretariat on Friday. US Acting Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Alice Wells, who is in Sri Lanka while on a visit to the region, will meet Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Tilak Marapana today, the Government Information Department said.

The Ambassador-Designate to the Kingdom of Thailand Samantha K. Jayasuriya assumed duties at the Sri Lankan Embassy on 8 August. Addressing the staff members, Jayasuriya shared her vision and plans for the Embassy, aiming at furthering the ongoing cordial bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Thailand. She further highlighted the need to build upon the long-standing and rich cultural and religious ties, as well as strengthening trade, investment and tourism, and partnering in technical co-operation in areas of mutual interest for the betterment of both countries and peoples.
