UK Minister of State holds talks in Sri Lanka

UK Minister of State (Minister for the Commonwealth, the UN and South Asia) and Prime Minister’s Special Representative on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict, Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon had talks in Sri Lanka with politicians, civil society and others.

He had talks with President Maithripala Sirisena, the Tamil National Alliance and several others over the past two days.

The State Minister tweeted saying in his meeting with the President they discussed the growing relationship between the UK and Sri Lanka, the shared Commonwealth values, and the importance of peace, security and prosperity.

During his meeting with the Tamil National Alliance they discussed about the political progress in Sri Lanka and about the aspirations of the TNA.

He also had talks with the business community and religious leaders in Sri Lanka.
