වහාම ක්‍රියාත්මක වන පරිදි විනිමය අනුපාතිකයෙහි ඉහළ නම්‍යශීලීභාවයක් සහිතව ගනුදෙනු සිදුකිරීමට වෙළෙඳපොළට ඉඩ සැලසීමට ශ්‍රී ලංකා මහබැංකුව විසින් තීරණය කර තිබේ.

The Central Bank Governor Nivard Cabraal on Friday said even before the International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced their to-do-list, the banking regulator had recommended similar and better proposals to the Government on a number occasions.

The two main gas importing companies, "LAUGFS" and "LITRO" today said they would not be able to import gas, as the local banks do not permit them to open Letters of Credit (LCs), which could eventually lead to a massive gas scarcity in the country.

The Central Bank said it will introduce certain tough measures to bring down the inflation rate to single digits, noting that the 15.1% recorded in February is concerning.
