Visiting IMF representatives tour Port City and Port terminals

The delegation of the International Monetary Fund currently engaged in an official tour in Sri Lanka visited the Port City Colombo and South Asia Gateway Terminal and Colombo Dockyard Company and observed the operations of those institutions.

A lengthy discussion was held regarding the contribution of related institutions to the country’s economy and future plans. Their current operations, employee welfare, tax contribution also received the attention of the visiting delegation. The head of the delegation, IMF Deputy Managing Director, Kenji Okamura, said that the related operations performance was praiseworthy.

The delegation also visited Port City Colombo and paid close attention to the existing legal framework and concessionary tax policies offered by Sri Lanka to the foreign investors. State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe along with representatives of Port Authority, Central Bank and many other institutions joined the event.
