Tourist arrivals surpass 200,000 in first two months

More than 210,000 foreign tourists have visited Sri Lanka in the first two months of this year alone, showing a positive growth in tourism, which had declined due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, 102,545 foreign tourists have come to Sri Lanka in January this year and 210,184 foreign tourists have come to Sri Lanka in the first two months of this year alone,

along with 107,639 tourists who came in February. The Authority said that the total number of foreign tourists who have come to Sri Lanka in February this year is 107,639 which this is an increase of 11.53 percent compared to 96,507 tourists who came to Sri Lanka in February last year .

The total number of tourists who have come to Sri Lanka in the first two months of 2023 is 210,184, and in the month of February, 29,084 Russian tourists and 13,714 Indian tourists have come to Sri Lanka. This is a 27 percent and 13 percent of the total tourists respectively, the Authority said. Apart from this, 8,575 from the United Kingdom, 7,930 from Germany, 6,118 from France, 3,113 from Australia and 3,107 from Canada are among the countries where tourists have come the most in February.

In the last year 2022, the arrival of foreign tourists has exceeded the limit of 700,000 and 719,978 people have come to Sri Lanka, which is a big growth compared to 2022.
