A total of 244 officers of the Sri Lanka Army have been promoted to their next rank by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in view of the 72nd National Independence Day today.
The Army said 17 Brigadiers were promoted to the Rank of Major General while 45 Lieutenant Colonels were promoted to the Rank of Colonel.
Accordingly, the President has promoted 49 Majors to the Rank of Lieutenant Colonel, 42 Captains to the Rank of Major, 80 Lieutenants to the Rank of Captain and 11 Second Lieutenants to the Rank of Lieutenant.
