The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal for a Vote of Account in Parliament for the first four months of the year 2020. A statement on Cabinet decisions taken at the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday said since the Presidential Election is due to be held at the end of 2019, the Budget for the year 2020 will be postponed to early 2020, so that the Budget of 2020 can be prepared based on the composition of the new Cabinet and the new policies of the Government.
The proposal made by Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera to prepare a Vote on Account with the expenditure required to maintain the Government for the first four months of the year 2020, and to get Parliament's approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
