Customs approve Rs. 46.43Bn exports, netted Rs.9.34bn revenue during quarantine curfew: Spokesman

Sri Lanka Customs has approved exports valued at Rs.46.43 billion and collected import taxes amounting to Rs. 9.34 billion during the quarantine curfew period, Customs Media Spokesman and Deputy Director Sudattha Silva said.

He said the above exports were handled during the period from August 28 to September 3.

Meanwhile, the customs has also been able to maintain its normal operations during last week despite the quarantine curfew.

"The current epidemic situation in the country has had a significant impact on the officers of the Customs. In order to safeguard the economic stability of the country, the Customs Director General retired Maj. Gen. Vijitha Ravipriya and his team of customs officers ensured that all services are continued uninterruptedly, while strictly following the health instructions, "Mr. Silva added. (Daily Mirror)
