Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is scheduled to testify today before the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) that is probing the Easter Sunday terror attacks.
Chair of the Committee and Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri told the Daily News that the Premier is expected to appear before the committee at 6pm this evening.
Prior to his testimony, State Minister for Defense Ruwan Wijewardene, Minister Sagala Ratnayaka and former minister Ranjith Madduma Bandara are also slated to testify on the same day.
“We plan to wrap up the proceedings with a final testimony from the President,” he said.
“I have not written to the President officially as yet. We hope to discuss this among the committee today and take it forward.”
These last testimonies will mark the end of the first ever parliamentary select committee which has been open to media coverage.
The Committee is mandated to produce a report based on its findings with recommendations on the way forward to rectify issues to prevent incidents such as these in future.
