COVID-19 vaccine in SL by mid-February: Sudarshani

The Government was making arrangements to provide COVID-19 vaccines to the people of Sri Lanka by mid-February, Primary Health Care, Epidemics and COVID-19 Disease Control Minister Sudarshani Fernandopulle said yesterday.

She told Parliament that the government is engaged in talks with Russia to purchase Sputnik V vaccines, while talks are also underway with India to purchase Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines. “The Government is also considering the Pfizer vaccines as well,” she said.

Minister Fernandopulle also said the government has placed the orders to the World Health Organization (WHO) to obtain a vaccine through the COVAX facility.
