Present heads of public institutions continue to serve in same posts

Chairpersons and members of Director Boards appointed by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa after ascending to high office will continue their services without any change even under the newly elected government, official sources said.

Presidential Secretary Dr.P.B. Jayasundara has informed all ministry secretaries that chairpersons and members of Director Boards will not be changed and they will continue their services without any disruptions.

In letter to all secretaries of ministries, Dr. Jayasundara noted that consent of the President must be obtained if any changes are made to the chairpersons and boards of directors appointed to public corporations, boards and statutory bodies
.
Further the Presidential Secretariat has instructed all Cabinet and State Ministers to assume duties at their ministries before next Monday (August 17).

The President’s Media Division said a six-member committee had been has selected suitable professionals to lead State enterprises and regulatory and statutory bodies.
Experienced professionals have received appointments as chairpersons and board members of State-owned enterprises, regulatory bodies and other statutory institutions.

According to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa “Experienced and qualified people had been appointed to head these organizations to turn around it as profitable ventures so that they can become contributors to the economy, not loss-making burdens to the Treasury
