The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has recorded statements from former IGP Pujith Jayasundara on December 26 and 31.
Jayasundera, who is sent on compulsory leave with regard to the Easter Sunday bombings, is currently being held in remand custody at the Welikada Prison.
The statement has been with obtained with regard to the road accident involving former minister Patali Champika Ranawaka.
On the night of the accident, Mr. Ranawaka had phoned Jayasundera, who was the DIG in charge of Colombo at the time.
It is said that the CID had recorded a 2.5 hour long statement from Mr. Jayasundera, at the Welikada prison.
