The Colombo Municipal Council's (CMC) Public Health Department today announced that the vaccination drive involving AstraZeneca Covishield vaccine for people above the age of 70 will get underway today.
CMC regional Epidemiologist Dr. Dinu Guruge told the Daily Mirror that the AstraZeneca vaccine will be given to people who have not received their SMS alert or a call.
She also invited people aged above 70 years and were vaccinated from Feb 20 to March 1, 2021 from CMC centres to walk in to the centre today.
The AstraZeneca second jab will be given at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium and Mugalan Road in Colombo 5.
The CMC strictly urges people only from the CMC area to report to the centres and others will not be given the vaccine.
Meanwhile, the second dose and first dose of the Chinese Sinopharm COVID-19 Vaccine will be administered in the following CMC centres today.
This could be obtained at P.D. Sirisena grounds, Sirisara Uyana, Roxy Garden, Muwadora Uyana, Campbell Park and Ginthupitiya MOH office compound.
The Sinopharm first dose can be received at Awwal Zaviya Road, Siddharthapura, Metro Homes and New Bazaar Maternity Home
