The GMOA says it has uncovered a scam in which the 2nd dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine is being sold at Rs 5000.
GMOA's secretary Sonal Fernando said the GMOA has received complaints that a company had asked Rs 5000 to provide the 2nd dose of the particular vaccine.
Fernando questioned how a company is allowed to sell the vaccine at such a high price at a time when there are a large number of people waiting to obtain the 2nd dose from this vaccine.
"It's also a mystery as to how a company sells this vaccine when the health ministry has not given any permission to do so," he added.
He said they have already informed this pathetic situation to the health minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi and other officials.
The GMOA is urging the health ministry to conduct an inquiry on this matter.
