The Welikada Prison is to be shifted to a portion of Millewa Watte land in Horana.
This has been stated in the list of cabinet decisions taken on 17th, issued by the Department of Government Information.
Accordingly, the prison, which is currently on a 42-acre land, will be shifted to 200-acres in Millewa.
The land where the prison is currently located, is to be transferred to the Urban Development Authority and utilized for a mixed urban development project.
