The United National Party (UNP) says it is considering disciplinary action against Balangoda Mayor Chamika Wewagedara.
Wewagedara, a UNP member, had allegedly destroyed a stock of vegetables set for sale, by pouring kerosene over them recently.
The incident had taken place when vendors had transported a stock of vegetables despite the curfew.
The Balangoda Mayor had arrived at the location where the vendors were and poured kerosene over the vegetables.
When contacted by the Colombo Gazette, UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said that the UNP leadership had taken note of the incident.
He said that the UNP Working Committee will decide on the course of action to be taken against the Mayor. (Colombo Gazette)
