“Our loyalty lies with the public, democracy and with the Constitution. Not with anyone else, says chairman of the Election Commission - Mahinda Deshapriya.
In a Facebook post, Mr. Deshapriya had made a clarification, in in response to a recent statement by Minister Wimal Weerawansa, who had severely criticized Mr. Deshapriya and other members of the Election Commission.
He also says in his post that voting is the ultimate festival of democracy and urges the public to defeat Covid-19 and create a good environment to hold a free and fair election.
