Defeated presidential candidate - Ajith Premadasa still owes the state owned Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) a staggering amount of Rs. 150 million in return for advertisements broadcast during his tenure as minister of housing, reports say.
Three advertisements were broadcast on the SLRC a day before inaugurations of housing projects took place between March 2018 - Sep. 2019.
Mr. Premadasa has requested to broadcast these advertisements and briefed the Media Ministry and the then SLRC Chairperson accordingly.
Trade unions of the SLRC have briefed minister Bandula Gunawardena on this regard after the latter made an observation visit to the institution on Dec. 31.
In response, minister Bandula had instructed the present SLRC chairman - Dr. Nihal Jayatilleke to take necessary action to secure the pending amount.
