SJB will support government’s people friendly policies - MP Attanayake

The main opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) yesterday in response to the request made by President Ranil Wickremesinghe to support the Government’s future development activities at this crucial juncture said the SJB is always supporting the Government unconditionally for the sake of people in the country without expecting any ministerial portfolios.

SJB, National Organizer Tissa Attanayake said Government should not ask the SJB to support the IMF agreement as we are always extending our support and the gratitude towards IMF since it is clearly shown even Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa had extensive talks with the IMF delegation few weeks ago at the Opposition Leader’s house in Colombo.

He said even during that meeting the Opposition Leader made a fervent request from the IMF delegation to extend its fullest co-operation to our country at this hour of need.

Attanayake said the SJB has also proven its gratitude to the people in the country by donating digital educational equipment to school children. He said the SJB is also providing buses to schools all over the country and reminded about the distribution of expensive medical equipment to countrywide hospitals and said the SJB has so far donated millions of worth medical equipment to hospitals. He said the SJB is always ready to help the Government’s work carried out for the benefit of people in the country without accepting any portfolio.

He urged the Government to reduce the prices of essential food items and also the prices of diesel, petrol and kerosene since it would immensely benefit to majority low income groups in the country.
